What is Nirad

Nirad is a customizable solution to cloud manage and monitor Networking gear. It is licensed to OEMs who manufacture Wireless APs, Enterprise Firewalls and other CPEs installed in a SMB / SME environment. If you are an OEM that needs to cloud enable your gear, Nirad can help you get to market in a fraction of the time at a fraction of the cost.

Nirad consists of 2 fundamental components

  • Nirad Smart Agent – The agent in integrated into the CPE code and is the glue that ties the Networking gear to the cloud.
  • Nirad Cloud Server – The cloud server is a multi-tenant multi-user platform that on-boards, manages and monitors all the Networking Gear that connects to the cloud.

With Nirad, on-site visits are a thing of the past: you won’t waste time anymore, going 100 miles away only to reboot an AP or to change a gateway. Firmware upgrade is done remotely, so your customer’s infrastructure is always updated with the latest software version. Your customer simply power on their devices and add them to the cloud, configuring SSIDs, Passwords and more.

Every aspect of their network can be configured from the Nirad Cloud Dashboard, including radio mode and channel, bandwidth limits, network modes, TCP/IP settings.


01. Basic Configurations
  • See vendor, model, firmware version, MAC address, public IP, date the AP was added, date of the latest revision
  • Change AP name
  • Reboot AP
  • Remote firmware upgrades
  • Easily move the AP from one network to another one.
02. Radio Configurations
  • Change radio mode (802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11b/g/n)
  • Select channel or choose the “Auto” mode
  • Set Tx Power
  • Choose the channel width: 20 or 40 MHz
  • Control 2.4 GHz and 5GHz radios independently.
03. SSID Configurations
  • Enable up to 8 SSIDs per each access point
  • Create new SSIDs, open or public (WEP, WPS2-PSK, external splash page with or without Radius AAA)
  • Make an SSID invisible
  • Isolate clients
  • Set bandwidth limits.
04. Network modes
  • Select Network mode: Each SSID or LAN port connects to the internet
  • Bridge mode: SSID and or LAN port can individually be bridged through the WAN port
  • Router mode: SSIDs and or LAN port can individually be routed through WAN port, activating NAT and DHCP. It’s possible to have a single DHCP server per each SSID, if needed.
05. TCP/IP
  • Manually configure static IP addressing, specifying IP, Subnet Mask, Gateway, Primary DNS server, Secondary DNS server
  • Alternatively, enable dynamic IP addressing (DHCP client).
06. Services
  • Enable/disable SSH service and change password
  • Enable/disable local Web Server of the AP
  • Change device NTP settings (time-zone)
  • Scheduled/programmat ic reboot of the AP
07. Network statistics
The graphs show the summed bandwith usage of all the devices that have monitoring enabled:
  • Real-time received data (bytes/s)
  • Real-time sent data (bytes/s)
08. Access Point Statistics
  • Real-time Status of the access point and last heartbeat
  • Status of the AP during the previous 7 days, with exact date and time per each issue
  • Real-time Load % on RAM/CPU, drop and error rates
  • Number of connected clients and aggregated download and upload bitrate.
  • History of configuration revisions.
09. Client statistics
You see detailed client stats with the following information for each one:
  • Access point name to which the client is connected
  • SSID
  • MAC address
  • Session duration
  • Sent and received bytes Signal strenght (dBm).
